The whole Iraq mess is really depressing at times with American News Orgs dishing out one kind of propaganda and the Mullahs another. I can't imagine what it must be like to be living there right now, but every other week Salam Pax who came to fame with his blog Dearraed, writes a column for The Guardian. A gay architect who studied in Vienna, he now works as a translator. His columns are sometimes hard to follow, I usually have to read them twice but they are always entertaining and always surprising. Today's column is quite good and provides a wry and ironic look at what's happening in Iraq.
