These are some impressive benchmarks .. coupled with RAILhead Design's new screen shots, Panther seems like it will be a great upgrade. Too bad the OpenGL performance is down though :( Hopefully it will pick up again before its final release (as I'm sure it will). Probably just a bunch of beta bugs or something.

I'm glad that with every release, Apple just seems to make things faster, since 10.0, instead of trying to let the hardware catch up with the software. This is the way it's supposed to be done!

Ho hum OpenGL is still much slower :(

At least Quartz and disk has picked up again :)

Overall, not bad for the third build, but obviously a long way to go if they want to convince the majority of users to upgrade.

Yeah I was kinda dissapointed that OpenGL was Down, since I ware really hoping that 10.3 would be better for games.

Otherwise very good.

I think it eventually will be, however OpenGL has always been a dissapointment on OS X, imo.

To make an omlete you have to break some eggs. We just have to play the waiting game.

Notice that the iMac 600 tested had an ATI Rage 128Pro2 (the Rage 128 Ultra) which had 16MB of VRAM. Quartz Extreme requires a Radeon or a GeForce 2 or better with at least 16MB of VRAM. This could mean than Quartz performance has increased by more than what is inferred, right?
