I just purchased a used 500mhz ibook. I never used a mac on a regular basis so I don't know if this is normal or not. My ibook gets very hot left of the touch pad. I have used windows compatible notebooks before (intel and amd). They seem to get hot, but not nearly as hot as my ibook. Is everythink ok? Thanks
 
The hard drive is right there (left of the trackpad) so it's pretty normal for that area to get hot. Especially if you're doing a lot of HD usage.

I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure that the vents on the left side are clear and not clogged up.
