I'm thinking of getting this Power Mac as a server and leave it in the spare room or something.

I'm just wondering, just to be sure, SATAII drives are compatible with SATAI bays?

Also, what hardware is needed to add extra INTERNAL hdd bays to the PM?

It's going for (atm) AUD$317 with <1 hour to go. It's the basically the slowest g5 ever made, but it should be alright just serving internet (with a second ethernet card) and storage/backup needs, right? (btw, we have a gigabit network set up at home)

Thanks,
Sam

Yeah, should be fine, SATA 2 drives are fine. There are a couple of cage solutions for additional drive bays -- Sonnet G5Jive is one. You may have to add a SATA PCI (NOT a PCI-e) card for additional SATA ports.
