I want to buy an external monitor for my MBP, but will I run into trouble with different native resolutions? My MBP is running 1920 x 1200, and I'm looking at a Samsung TV for my external monitor. Can I have my samsung TV running a different resolution than my MBP screen?

Somewhere
as long as you are not mirroring the screens you can have different resolutions, if you are mirroring them it will put both onto the native resolution of the lowest resolution display.
