In the meantime, drink some green tea.

You'd get stomped right out of any self-respecting club by a herd of Wumpscut and Skinny Puppy fans.

I wonder if Arn could make a list of these if we asked him.

It would be interesting to see how many bands not on the iTMS have sold over a million records (gone platimum before).

forgive me if any of these are in there. I'm at work (and unable to access the store on my PC) and I haven't looked in a couple of days, but I don't remember seeing these:

I'm in an electronic/dance/house mood:
DJ Sammy
DJ Venom
Sash (hm, I actually think they're french)
Propellerheads

When I'm in my classical/soundtrack mood:
Lord of the Rings soundtracks
Star Trek soundtracks
Shostokovich (sp?)
Henry Mancini
More of Danny Elfman's works (I think he already has some in there)

that's all I can remember off the top of my head..

They do have Paul Oakenfolds studio album but i agree that they should have others as well. I'm really happy that Moby was added. Some other artists they need are:

Sasha (you can't mention John Digweed without Sasha!) check out this album (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000003SFN/qid=1059671883/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-2367554-7195263?v=glance&s=music) if you haven't already, it's awesome!
God Lives Underwater (the rest of their albums)
Aphex Twin

that's all i can think of right now

Nicely Done! It's nice to see someone with some good taste. Sadly, I don't think we'll ever get any of our stuff up there. I think Subpop or Matador is about as far as it will ever go. I'd love to see them pick up Kill Rock Stars, Up, and especially Touch and Go. Some Warp titles would be nice too. I'm not holding my breath though. Cheers.

Apparently there are no other 80's pop fans here, but what the hey:

Survivor
REO Speedwagon (don't know if I have actually verified this)
Bob Seger

There are also a lot of good Christian Artists missing. I will hear a song on the radio and go to check, but they aren't in the ITMS.

I just don't understand this! Why would artists/labels (whoever makes that decision) NOT want their music on the iTunes music store? Artistic integrity?

Ha!

People. are. going. to. download. music.

Why not admit that to yourself and at least be on a great (the best) service where you get royalites? There will always be people like myself who want to hold that album in their hands, look at the cover/liner art, while listening the the CD all the way through with no pauses.

But how many people are like that? Not most. Most people would rather click around a few times on thier computer and have the song. Which is a great thing to be able to do, especially in a legal fashion such as with the iTMS.

Sorry for the rant, this logic just baffles me.....

good call. i can't see what would make the labels think twice about this, especially the small ones. i mean hell, nobody is buying CDs anymore. i haven't actually went to the store and purchased a CD in about a year. i just can't justify it anymore. besides my old CD collection all my music was stolen from p2p. however, i have a spent money at the iTMS and would continue to do so if they actually had some music that i liked.

Woah... this thread is sure back from the dead.

Although since it's here, I did a quick check, and it's interesting to note that in the six months since this thread was alive about half of the groups listed, both well known and not, are now on there.

Still none of Weird Al's early stuff or anything from any Japanese composers, though (apparently I'm not the only one still waiting after half a year...).

I suggest you guys actually LOOK on iTMS before you start listing bands that are not on there. A lot of the bands listed ARE on iTMS. Granted a complete collection of songs by one artist is hard to find, but still please check out the music store before you post that they are missing an artist.

i don't know how much good that would do. i think apple knows which artists they're missing most of the time, its just that some artists don't want their stuff on the store for their own reasons. Many artists don't like the idea of big companies making lots of money thanks to their music. Others like to maintain the integrity of their albums as entire pieces instead of just a random mix of entirely unrelated singles, and itunes says they can't do that, they have to offer songs seperately. Others like to be able to write one good song and sell it as a 20$ cd with some other crap thrown in to fill those 78 minutes.
I think maybe those last ones are starting to give in though, realizing that they can probably make some good money through itunes, or something like that.

personally, i like listening to albums (when their done right, anyways), i love it when a band is able to put together an album that plays well from beginning to end. jobs said that he wouldn't allow artists to sell albums unless they offered single tracks to be sold serperately. If apple buys apple records as some rumours have it, i wonder how they'll selll albums like sgt pepper and abey road, those things really can't be listened to one track at a time.
