Blue/Green Screen trouble. (FCE)

I cannot figure out how to composite greenscreen and bluescreen in FCE. will someone tell me how to do so?

That is one fully loaded question if I have ever heard one. Keying is almost an artform in itself. That's like starting a thread asking how to edit.

With that said, can you find the filter you need to use? I don't have Final Cut Express, so I can't tell you exactly what to use, but in Final Cut Pro you have the filters under "Key" labeld chroma key, blue/green screen. Does Final Cut Express have anything like that?

If you aren't getting good results from your key, 9/10 it is because your source footage wasn't up to par. Check your lighting, put a lot of light on the blue or green screen, pull your talent as far away from it as you can and light the back of them a bit to separate any color spill.

Best to use the Chroma-Key, select the colors to remove (this negates the need for a totally omni-colored background) and play around with the sliders to give your subject a non-pixelated edge.

As said above- it's an art-form, but good fun nonetheless.

This is all true...best keyer I have used is in After Effects, Keylight...not sure if it's available in an edit package but if you can get it into After Effects, it's quite a step up from the keyer's in FCE...

Note very close. Shake has the advantage of having both Keylight and Primatte (along with a luminance keyer) that can be used together to achieve excellent keys. Shake's node-based structure allows you to take the best parts of differeny keyers.

The Second Picture is the picture of what key i use.
The First Picture is what I am trying to key out. (the green into Grass)

1) Place the picture you attached to your post on track V2.
2) Place whatever you want to replace below on track V1.
3) Use Chroma Keyer. Drag it onto your clip on track V2 in the timeline.
4) Chroma Keyer defaults to green as the color it keys out. If not..
5) Double-Click the clip in the timeline so it shows up in the Viewer window.
6) Go to the Filters Tab. Under the Chroma Keyer, you can uncheck the 'eye', click on the dropper, and go to your Canvas monitor and click on the area you want to key out. Then you can adjust as needed. If the color you want to key is somewhat uneven, you can shift-drag the dropper along areas in the Canvas window.

I suggest you read the manual for further information.

I'd suggest using a mask though, unless that image is animated.
Composite mode -> Travel alpha etc, but I may have misunderstood the problem.

Ok, i tried it with the green, it worked so well. then blue, and the building and the backround blue became Keyed. so when i have the newly rendered animation, i will post it on youtube and post a link here. thank you all so much! I can finnally KEY!!!!!

How does After Effects keyer compare to Shakes?

there is no comparing. shake will out KEY ne adobe or even FCS2 package
