Why isnt the wireless one full sized? The last model was full sized and wireless. Why would apple handicap the wireless keyboard? I need the wireless, but I also need it full sized for what I do. I guess I'll be stuck with the last gen version.

I love the new wireless! As a writer, I think it's one of the nicest keyboards I've ever seen. I can't recall ever using the number pad for anything except for movement in Civ II in the last 20 years, so I'm glad to be rid of the dead weight.

Hey me too. The BT KB is very disappointing. I would have bought on today if it wasn't for it being so small.
As a writer myself, I do not like the smaller keys. As you can see here: http://www.apple.com/keyboard/ The keys themselves are smaller on the BT keyboard. I don't think I would be able to type well on that. Oh well, I will stick with my current one.

The keys are still smaller, notably the space, arrow keys, and they shoved the fn key in there too. Not everyone sits on their couch when they type. I like the simplicity of less wires and more ports while having a full-size keyboard. Which is no longer an option.

It's perfect for that -- in combo with a Mini or something. But it's pretty lame as part of a desktop. They at least ought to offer a full-sized one, even if it's $99 instead.
I'm the kind of person who loves having a seperate number pad for entering numbers. It's definetely a lot faster that way. However the design of the wireless one suggests that you could easily hold it in one hand and type with the other while standing away from the computer.

I agree, I'm no accountant, if I was I would buy some worthless PC with a number pad. I do quite well on my 17' macbook with number lock if you need it.

I agree 100 percent. I do think it clashes. I was waiting for today before I bought my bluetooth mouse and keyboard, but now I'm just hoping that these new ones drive down the prices of the old ones.

Give me a break. The PC bashing never ends here. You do realize the last BT had a number pad and the WIRED keyboard has one as well. Guess what makes them worthless PCs. What is wrong with some of you?
Not every choice Apple makes is a good one. If they wanted to offer a glorified dashboard and itunes remote they could have, while still offering a full size wireless keyboard for everyone else. That would have been the best choice for everyone.
I will be silenced by the apologists though. 🙄

I'm hardly an apologist for Apple. I have returned more Apple product than you will probably ever own. I'm just a realist. I own that old BT keyboard, and am writing on it as we speak, Big and bulky with a useless number pad that is nothing but dead wait...use number lock, any good accountant can fly on that. By the way, PC=useless; Been there, Done that; Once you get the message, Hang up the iPhone!!

Maybe this isn't clear to you. The keys are also smaller. It is not a fullsize keyboard. And please, don't suggest to me what I should use simply because you don't use a feature. I like fullsize keyboard, not midget media remotes turned keyboards. If you like the keyboard, that is fine. However, a choice would have been a nice balance for everyone.

Yeah that was a little conservative. Probably less that 1% use compared to the rest of the keyboard layout.

I realize that this is against "internet etiquette," but wouldn't it be a good idea to reserve judgment and praise until seeing it in person, and perhaps even playing with it? 🙂 For instance, the black ring on the iMac looks awkward to me at first glance, but so did the entire iMac G5 when it came out. It wasn't until I saw one in person that I could really appreciate it. The same could hold true for the keyboard.
And saying, suneohair, that a full size BT keyboard is no longer an option is excluding plenty of 3rd party keyboards, as well as the last gen BT keyboard that I'm sure you wouldn't have a hard time finding, new or used.

I own one, however I was looking forward to the new keyboard and would have gladly bought one. 3rd party keyboards are all geared toward Windows. The Logitech set is garbage and is RF at that.
The same could hold true for the keyboard, however I use my number pad daily and appreciate the connivence. Whats more is that the new BT keyboard is more expensive (as is the wired) for less keyboard.
I don't necessarily care, I would have like the new one. But oh well, maybe I will give the wired version a shot if the keyboard feels good to type on. I didn't like the macbook all that much.
My beef is mostly that the keys themselves (the important ones) are smaller and the keyboard is overall looks very squished. I haven't typed many numbers in this "blog." But this right here was done on it:

And yes, while the keystrokes may be done on the "letter side," the number pad is more convenient. To each their own. I don't like it. And I won't buy it. End of story. Get back to converting PC people.
