totally agree, i have ben waiting for a long time to see the iPod type of marketing dedicated to the Mac units. Don't get me wrong the current Mac ads are nice, but the sense of excitement that was assoicated with the iPod advertisements really would work well in the Mac line and serves to illustrate the point that "if you love your iPod, wait until you get you hands on the machines that started it all"
no it's not just you and I think it is a phenomenal observation on your part. I completely forgot about that commercial. They are very clearly related thematically in that when apple presents a new iMac, one of the overriding qualities it tries to convey are the unique aesthetic qualities it has compared to whatever else is out there. There is no better way to do that than by spinning them around to show the entire machine, why do you think car dealers do it with their displays. Again, great catch, it was fun to remember that launch and think through a little the question you asked.
