A coffee machine
A dish washer
A hybrid-engine
A 30" HD Display
A 10 mega-pixel iSight
The ability to transform

... I could go on all day, ever thought about not complaining?

The turn offs to me are:

Poor video card (it almost makes my X1600 look nice)
Lack of Matte Screen (you have to be kidding me!)
Normal Wireless Keyboard (why not just make the wired one wireless)

I'm not complaining, just not buying...
How long do you guys think Apple will leave HD optical drive in absence?
Until Leopard?

Maybe you should take some of your own advice.

Why O why does a consumer (we're still talking about the iMac, right?) machine need anything more than a DVD drive at the moment?

Neither HD formats are even in the main stream for Home Entertainment Systems yet. They'd stick one in, and people would complain it'd be the wrong one... oh, and then they'd complain about the price...

You're forgetting that there's no such thing as Pro and Consumer machines any more, apparently...:)

what good would a 22" display do? it would likely have the same resolution of the 20" model, so you wouldn't see any added screen real estate. they already have the 24" model for higher resolutions, so a 22" would belong where exactly?

you're going to have to wait a lot longer than that. one side has to emerge a true victor and more people really have to buy into it. dvd is still king (for the moment).

Of course I forgot that every 16 year old needs a MacPro, for all that MySpace.

(Saying that, MySpace is a bit of a system hog ;) stupid horrible P.O.S. website)

Must be lacking somewhere else...

Brd & hd-dvd are consumer formats and we all know that Apple is one of the founders of brd consortium. So if Apple chooses any new optical format, it will be brd.

Mac isn't main stream, so it would be logical for them to offer something more. How many times Steve used word "pro" in keynote? And said that "Goal is to make the best PC in the world" and "We can't ship junk".

My understanding is that in Mac's main economic area (USA), there's already millions of HD displays, stb's and players sold.

And when Apple orders million of brd drives, one piece won't be very expensive. And they could offer it as an option.

...Or could it be that Apple tries to deny any new disc formats and relys just on downloadable HD content?

Any word about new iMac's hdcp compliance?
If I buy an external brd drive, can I watch HD movies with new iMac?

All signs point to Blu-Ray sticking around for quite a while and people are justified in wanting some form of next gen DVD drive in order to "future-proof" there systems as much as possible.

Graphics card definitley and more than a gig of ram please? The 2600's are pathetic gaming cards but their Hi-def quality is amazing. This doesnt make sense though, all the hype was about "games coming to mac hurrah we finally did it". Not about hd editing or anything hd! And then they put in a card that can barely run the game. O wait, there is DX10, now im getting it

I can see the first 4 but the last 1 is just silly.

This is the biggie.

Another 1gb of RAM'll only cost about $50, so it's hardly worthy of complaint.

The card is DX10 capable but it struggles to run through it. Company of Heroes on high settings got about 30 fps with DX9 (which isnt great i know) then they tested it on DX10 and it got 9, as its best.

1. led backlight

The transition from CCFL to LED is certainly going slowly... but I think the 24" iMac certainly, alongside the cinema displays, is going to sit this out for a while due solely to its size. :(

There actually is still the magnet for the apple remote, it is at the top center of the computer. I thought they removed it but after playing around for a while I found it. :)

WHERE I CAN"T FIND IT !!!!

I am so sorry about that... there was actually a clear strip of something sticky on the top and the remote stuck to that, sorry for the false hope :(

I remember when people talked about Fords and Chevys like this.
(No internet then...took place in driveways.)
