It was in Alaska, and just had to fly South to Nevada but it went East to Tennessee. Now it has to fly West, I hope directly to Las Vegas. I wonder if I could have it Monday? So hard to be cool and mentally prepare for a Wednesday delivery when I want it Monday... or yesterday. :D

My plane is being an idiot and after 8 hours it's still in flight... So far it has been 3 days and 4 tomorrow... 6 by delivery day, if they aren't late.

Apple sends an email saying your item has shipped and supplies a tracking link. You click on it and you can track your item; I would have no idea how it works outside of the US or with re-sellers. I would hope it was the same ..:confused:

I paid the extra $33 hoping that it would push things along, but if it doesn't ship tomorrow then I will have to wait through the weekend.

Thanks, me too! This is my first iMac so I am excited and ready to make the official switch over. My status was changed this morning to "Prepared for Shipment", so I must be close within 24 hours of shipping, and again hopefully my $33 will buy me the better part of the 2-3 day delivery and get here on Friday.

Here are the unpacking pics of a well packed 24" iMac by apple, especially the screen which was protected by a clear film peeled and a styrofoam wrap. Well done apple. Enjoy the pics and my setup is complemented by aluminum matching 2 stacked Lacie Porsche design external hard drives. Worth the wait after frustrating delays by apple, 6 painful weeks. I am now migrating files from my PowerBook. It is a smokin' fast machine... 2.8GHz of raw power! Also tested for dead pixels, there are no single dead pixels, perfect screen and no banding.

Yeah, I got fed up with FedEx (no pun intended) because no one would give me a straight answer, and they just said that it missed the flight out yesterday (same situation as you probably). So I called Apple and told them I wasn't getting any info from FedEx and that the FedEx website hasn't been updated for a couple days and he refunded me my $33 back (which I obviously didn't argue with!) and said that they've noticed that FedEx hasn't been updating their tracking info. So maybe it's closer than what we think, or maybe not, but I am now also expecting a Monday delivery....dammit.

I recieved my Fedex tracking number on the 25th and its was supposed to ship out yesterday, which it didn't. So I called Fedex and they said they have not recieved the package yet and Apple is saying its delayed because of the Typhon.

I had another couple interesting conversations with both Apple and FedEx. Again Apple said that my iMac shipped on the 26th and that FedEx's tracking info hasn't been getting updated recently. I called them because FedEx wanted me to verify the shipping date and airbill number. Well Apple had no idea what an airbill number was so they verified the tracking number again and that was that.

I then emailed FedEx with this information (as directed in their email to me) and received an email saying to call their 1-800 number. So I call and give them my tracking number and tell them that how Apple told me their tracking info has been slow to update recently and the FedEx rep informed me that there are 40 packages linked with my tracking number that have yet to be handed over to FedEx from Apple. She said that there is no way they would be missing 40 packages and said that Apple simply hasn't had FedEx take them off their hands. She said that they have been receiving many calls concerning the same issue and that it is all on Apple. She then sent an email to the IPD department for me so that they could put a trace on my package because she said that China is on holiday all next week and if they don't pick up my package tomorrow then it probably won't get out for another week! I'm surprised at this turn of events, especially after hearing from that one guy last night who said I will receive my package on Friday (the bastard).

Yeah I guess but it’s a pain since it was ordered back on the 13th – I was even told it would ship within 3-5 days on the phone to find that when I checked my order the iMac and the iPod Touch were set to ship together, then when I phoned up they wouldn’t ship them as two orders and wouldn’t upgrade my iPod Touch from a 8GB to a 16GB, this is my first purchase from Apple (I called there sales team) and if the status doesn’t change by Monday I can see myself ordering a Dell and Zune which I will get the same week

I've been getting the run around as of late with the shipment of my iMac (Order #: ******** & Tracking #: ***********). I'm seeing on FedEx's website the same status for the past two days stating "Package data transmitted to FedEx" which was posted at 5:52 PM on Sep 26, 2007, and that hasn't changed despite me choosing the 2-3 day shipping option when I purchased my iMac. Apple is telling me that it has shipped and FedEx's website hasn't been updating their tracking info recently thus the reason why I am not seeing any change. I called FedEx and they are telling me that all their tracking is up to date and that there are 40 packages linked with my tracking number that have yet to be shipped from the Shanghai location. They also said that they have been receiving numerous calls recently regarding the same issue as me. My main concern is that I know a Chinese holiday is coming up next week and if my package isn't shipped tomorrow then it may not be for over another week! I have purchased several items from Apple in this past year alone, including 2 iPhones and 2 new iPod classics, and I am anxiously awaiting the arrival for my first iMac. I know that mishaps happen when shipping items halfway around the world, but I would just like to receive a straight answer on when I will receive it. It is discomforting to hear two different stories from both Apple and FedEx on what is truly going on and I know that I am not the only one as others have stated the same as me. Any help in this matter would be appreciated and I thank you for your time in this matter."

"Okay I called Apple (yes again) and finally got a straight answer that links up with what FedEx is saying, which alleviates some of the disturbance. She said that the information has been sent to FedEx that packages are ready to be picked up, but because of the typhoon last week, they are playing catch up and haven't been able to get to mine yet, and she said that she was told they should be going out today (which isn't going to happen according to FedEx). I then expressed concern over the holidays next week in China and she said that shipping WILL be affected next week and said that this only happens once a year when China has a holiday of this magnitude where work is kind of shoved to the side. She said that my delivery won't make it by my original date (that being the 1st) and I should probably expect it by next Friday at the earliest.

It still kind of sucks that I just happened to order in the worst possible time frame that I could've chosen, but at least I have an answer that both sides are giving. So, I'm less upset now that I'm not getting the run around and all hope of a timely delivery is out the window. It's nobody's fault really, just bad timing on my part and the typhoon last week (which the effects of make my iMac problem pale in comparison). Hopefully you all get your's sooner than that and hopefully this will give us some peace of mind for the weekend."

"Interesting update here. I just got a call from someone from Apple (a 512 area code) in regards to the email that was sent to Steve Jobs, that I posted above. He said that he was personally looking into my shipment and has other people working on it too. I was pleasantly shocked and wasn't expecting this at all. He said that he would be calling me Monday morning with an update and I got an additional $33 dollar reimbursement on top of the one they already gave me for the expedited shipping charge. He said that he hasn't been notified about any delays due to the Chinese holiday next week, but that there were slight delays due to the typhoon. So that's pretty much it! I'm just kind of shocked that they went this far out of there way.

I'm hoping that they at least ship to other FedEx locations so that it keeps getting closer to me. Mine is still in Alaska and hasn't shown any movement in a few days. I imagine once it gets to N. America the shipping process should be expedited a bit and hopefully get to the hub near me.

Hey ordered my imac through apples student store here in the U.K.
Went for the 2.4 24" with an upgraded 500gb hard drive.

Ordered September the 15th (sat), changed to prepared for shipment thursday 27th and finally shipped sat 29th (this morning).

So far carrier informtion has not been updated and the estimated delivery date is 10th October. 3 and a half weeks after my order. I
decided to put my rebate towards a new ipod touch - origionally i thought this was holding up my order but turns out it was the imac. Apple seriously seemed to under estimate the demand for these new imacs.

My iMac was shipped on the 28th September and the apple email estimated delivery around the 9th October, however the apple site now shows the 15th Oct for delivery.

I have the TNT tracking number already as it was them that picked the package up from the Shanghai factory and at the moment the TNT site shows this...

My 20" iMac shipped on the 28th Sept and was picked up from Shanghai by TNT. However Apples site shows expected delivery as the 15th Oct(Subject to change)

Ha, yeah me too! I'm hoping that they ship out to W. Virginia today, because then I will almost surely get it tomorrow. I just don't understand why the delivery estimate still says a week from tomorrow! That doesn't make much sense to me at all. That is your AppleCare protection package... you can install the CD and use it for a few simple checks of your system; or boot from the CD, I think, if you have a major issue... Might need to use it with Apple help on the phone.. My package arrived a day or two before the iMac. All in all, good news! :)

Yeah mine has too, but since it's arrival at Memphis at about 0400 this morning, it hasn't done anything. So while they move around on Friday and Saturday, it looks as if they do take Sunday's off. So, I'm guessing that my package will leave from Memphis tomorrow and get to W. Virginia some time in the afternoon and be delivered to my house on Tuesday morning. Thanks for the info, kinda wish I had gotten mine, just so that I have something despite how small of a thing it is. I should have realized you wouldn't know what was on the disc, but I just wasn't thinking! Don't worry about your delievery date. It's most likely incorrect. Mine still has a scheduled delievery date of this coming Wednesday, when its already in my city. I think that date is an estimate to cover their ass, hehe:p

Mine should be here within the hour, in the past FedEx has delivered around 1030 or so. I just get to stare at the box until I go to class and then wait for the wifey to come home tonight! Edit: Nice little side note. Steve from Apple (from the post before regarding the email I sent to Jobs' email) just called to let me know that my iMac was on the way. I have to say their customer service so far has been far and beyond my expectations. I apologized if I over reacted at all with the shipping ordeal, and he assured me that with a big purchase it's natural to be concerned about where it is. He told me to hold on to his number (I believe he is at the Austin, TX Campus as it's a 512 number) so that if I have any issues to give him a call! It's nice to know I can potentially bypass the first tier reps at the 1-800 number. Perhaps this has to do with having AppleCare? Either way, I'm happy!

Of course, it says "package received after cutoff". The person I talked to said “it did not make it on the plane”, and that "left origin" simply meant that it was waiting to get on a plane to leave. He also said that the Chinese "golden week" holiday meant that they have skeleton crews working and everything will be delayed.

This is my first Mac. I've been waiting for a year now (was waiting for Leopard) and can’t wait anymore. I bought it knowing full well that I would buy Leopard in a few weeks, and now I have to wait even longer! Noooo!

I was/am in the same boat - waited a long time to buy my first Apple, have been in limbo since I put in the order August 21, finally saw it listed on FedEx.com as having "left origin" in Shanghai 6:41pm on 9/29... and it's sat at that status for the past three days, taunting me every time I refresh the site.

Until I rechecked it an hour ago, when it said "Oct 3, 12:47am, In Transit, Xinjinqiao, CN". Which 1) reminded me that there's an international date line between here and there, so it's not time travel, and 2) made me look in an atlas to see where the heck Xinjinqiao China is. (I still don't know - probably because Google, MapQuest, my atlas, and FedEx all have different ways of transliterating the same place name.) All I know is, it's moving again, holiday or no holiday.

Y'know, back in the bad old days, we wouldn't be able to torture ourselves (and others) like this - we just would have been left in the dark, and it would have showed up when it showed up. But then we'd miss out on all these lessons in international shipping logistics and stuff. Hm.

Recap: I ordered a 2.8GHz, 1GB, 500GB HD on aug 14th at a reseller here in Belgium. 4 weeks later, I was told that it would take a least another 3 weeks to ship. I canceled the order, and placed it directly at the apple store (sep 14). The estimated delivery date when I placed the order was sep 21th (1 week later). Sep 21th came ... and went by without a delivery. On sep 27th, the iMac finally arrived ... only to find out that they shipped a stock 2.4GHz, 300GB HD (which I could have taken home from the reseller on aug 14th). After a few calls to Apple support, they agreed to immediately reorder the 2.8GHz configuration (the 2.4GHz was collected later by TNT), telling me that it would be delivered by the end of this week (oct 3-4). When I called earlier today, they again confirmed that it would be shipped either late today, or early tomorrow.
However, when I came home and checked my order status, it now gives an estimated delivery date of oct 10!! This is getting ridiculous: I went for the iMac (instead of waiting for the new Mac Pros which are rumored to come out this fall) because I wanted to have the new computer during my holiday (which is now over) so I could do something about the backlog of pictures and video waiting to be edited. I've been waiting for 8 weeks now, and I'm getting tired of it. And I know... there are worse things in the world than this, but still, how hard can it be to ship a computer in less than 2 months (or at least give a close enough estimate)...

I ordered my 2,8Ghz, 24 iMac last Thursday and on the confirmation I was told it would ship on Oct 2nd. Today I checked up and saw that they had changed the shipping date to the 30th of October.

I just had a chat with customer service at Apple and told them I'm not happy. I also told them if it doesn't ship until the 30th then I want Leopard with it as well.

And I thought I was changing over from the darkside of windoze. How can they promise one thing and then just change it, without even sending me an e-mail to tell me?

Mine arrived bang on time yesterday, and I had a very pleasant evening installing stuff and playing WoW!

I think the moral of the story is not to rely on online tracking with couriers (FedEx, TNT, whatever) - if you are in doubt, ring them and they'll give you accurate information. My online tracking was more than a day behind but I always had accurate info over the phone.

Did I mention how awesome this iMac is?

I just called TNT as my iMac is still still somewhere in Aberdeen and shows the same comment three times, they were more than useless. The woman I spoke to didn't seem to know anymore than what the tracking said.

I then called Apple and asked them to check as their estimated date still says the 15th Oct, even though it is less than 50miles from my house. The guy said that the date should be the 9th Oct.

I asked if there is anyway he could try and get TNT to make sure it was out for delivery today or tomorrow as I will be away for a week starting sunday.

Ring TNT again, you'll probably get a different person. Ask about the status again, but specifically ask if there is a delay. You need to say that you've paid a significant amount of money for this shipment and you would like to know where it is.

I found when I rang that they tend to just give you the same info as on the website, but once you start getting politely insistent, they can look up all kinds of extra info. You may just have struck an unhelpful person, so I think you should try again.

Well I called TNT again and my iMac is sitting at their Depot in Aberdeen and due to the fact that the house is in the countryside they weren't going to deliver till the 15th Oct!!!

I told the guy that I need it in a hurry and I don't want it sitting there for 11 days, and I would go to the depot myself to collect it tomorrow. He then put me on hold and spoke with the depot and they are now going to put it out for delivery tomorrow!

So it better come. I am thinking I should just have said I would go get it.

I ordered my iMac (see sig) on Sept 27th and it shipped today, right on schedule. Apple says it will be delivered between Oct 10th and the 12th, although I sincerely hope it doesn't take that long. It'll probably be in Tokyo tomorrow (well, Japan anyway) and since most if not all local couriers deliver on the weekends, I'm hoping ot have it Saturday or Sunday. Can't wait!!! :D

Well from the order status stating that my iMac would ship on October 30th and a call and a few e-mails to and from Apple Customer service, I finally had an email this evening informing me that my 24" 2,8 ghz iMac has been shipped. I can't wait.

I know most people are waiting for Leopard, and Mac orders will probably go through the roof when it's announced, but I couldn't wait anymore, and when I do upgrade to Leopard, probably around December, I would like to have a tried and tested version.

Unbelieveable. I ordered mine the day before you did, and I still haven't received it. And I'm in Japan, much closer to China than Norway ... :mad:

I've packed up my Windows rig (good riddance!), rearranged and completely re-wired my office, bought a new Firewire 800 enclosure with a 500GB drive, bought a new $100 mouse, new speakers, etc - and I'm still looking at an empty desk. Color me impatient. ;)

Blimey, I'm also in Oslo and ordered mine on the 27th. Quite honestly I don't have a clue when mine will arrive. All I have so far is an e-mail telling me it was shipped on Friday the 5th. I reckon they just packed it up and it's stuck in some store room waiting to be collected.

I just got a second email from Apple with a tracking number for the local courier, they said my iMac will be delivered tomorrow! Of course I've had the last three days off from work and I have to go back tomorrow so the timing absolutely sucks :mad: but I can't wait to get home tomorrow night and fire it up!!! :D

So after spending 3 days in Winnipeg. My Mac Mini has been "In transit" for the past 17 hours.

Do you think they'll be able to deliver it before noon today like it says on their website?

I doubt it since google maps says it takes 28 hours from Winnipeg to Montreal. :/

It seems like Apple is giving their resellers a very hard time when it comes to the 24" 2.GHz model. I ordered one in the last week of August, near the end of September I still didn't receive it, I then checked with the reseller and they stated that they couldn't deliver untill -at least- the end of October. I canceled my order and ordered from Apple.com. Received it 10 days later (yesterday).

Still waiting on mine, was ordered back on the 13th of September and the sales assistant told me to expect it in 3-5 days, were now going to be looking at a month of waiting, the worst part is its only a stock iMac that I could have picked up from somewhere like PcWorld or John Lewis, I guess the waiting time is to make up for the £££’s I saved with student discount,

As much as I am glad to have found this forum today it depresses me to hear that Apple will most certainly make my wait for my first Mac one of an epic lenght.

I ordered my iMac 24" 2.4Ghz (320HD) and iPod Claassic on 5th of October. It shipped on 12th and today is 17th and I have been told by Apple that the iPod is in UK but that the iMac is in Czech Republic.

Has anyone gone though that step and if so how long do you estimate before I get UPS knocking on my door? :confused:

To finish off on a positive note - I have asked Apple whether I am due a free upgrade to Leopard and they said YES but that it could have also been installed on the machine already (they cannot tell). So all of us that ordered machines in October will only have to pay P&P for Leopard. Hurrah! :)

Weird ship and delivery dates, at least relative to the order I put in last night rather late. Then again, I suppose it might have to do with your BTO iMac being a bit more BTO then mine, which is a regular 2.4GHz 24" with only the HDD upgraded to 500GB.

Not sure to be honest. However, when I placed my most recent order(was only software), I received an invoice in my email on the day it was shipped. Have you had an invoice?

Therefore it should either be delivered today (Saturday) or Monday. It's VERY rare for couriers to deliver on a Sunday.

In the UK, the delivery is next day and my software came from Ireland to my house within 24 hours.

Well I ordered my 24" iMac, the day after the keynote (Allmost 3 weeks ago) from the biggest reseller here in Denmark, and still no sign of it. All they can tell me is that i am number 6 in the line to get it:mad: They have no idea when they are going to be able to sell me my new computer. The waiting is KILLING me.. Why arent apple better at supplying ther resellers???

And the estimated delivery is the 7th of Feb.

Is that normal for UK delivery? Also, i've yet to recieve a carrier name or carrier tracaking number I can use.
