That's wierd, ordered the 2.8" 24 with 2x1GB 750GB drive and BT mouse and it is shipping by next week. Then changed today to the 1x1GB same everything else, and it added one day b/c it was one day later. I did that by selecting the 2.4 24" for $1,799 upping the CPU to 2.8 and the HDD to 750 and the mouse again. Got 1GB instead of 2 that way for $150 less (1 stick still not 2x512) and then ordered 2x2GB - 4 total from OWC for $233 shipped. With the $150 I saved + the tax on it, going from 2GB-> 4GB cost me only $73 more than my original order.

I just canceled my custom build (wireless keyboard the only thing custom) over the phone and re-ordered a stock config 24" in order to get a faster ship date. Kind of a pain because I am a college student and also ordered a free ipod nano in the same order and Apple processed that part of my order so quickly that it could not be canceled. Now I need to do a return for the ipod and I'm at the back of the line for the stock config. :(

I'm hoping that the ship dates for custom configs are pessimistic. Surely Apple thought ahead enough to have staff available to do the custom configs? I mean, if this is supposed to be in time for school in September, having it delivered mid-September is far from ideal.

Still, for me it's worth the wait to get the custom config. Then again, I don't have to be in school in September. :D

Its because you ordered a wireless keyboard and mouse. Call them and get rid of those from the order, and your time will be greatly reduced.

Just got mine delivered. Beautiful! my brother and sister were even amazed. The keyboard is TINY!. Only nig would be the black outline, it does look weird but i'll live. Also the black apple logos seems weird.

Its very thin, screen is amazing, blazing fast with just 1GB another GB is on its way. Overall thumbs up.

The only item I custom configured was the larger hard drive. I have already ordered another 1GB memory from Crucial. I also included in the order an Airport Extreme and Apple TV.

So my questions are 1)Is there any way to split up the shipping addresses, so my iPod comes to my Home home, and my computer is sent to my House at school? and 2)Do you have to sign for the iPod when it comes? Because that might work out because they make 3 attempts (I believe) and then stays in the local warehouse for 5 days. If that is all true I can pick up my iPod once I get down to school. If they leave the iPod on the doorstep (which I don't think they would do, but you never know) that would be bad as it would be sitting there if noone could get it for me.

Any insight would be welcomed.

My changed order from Wednesday morning now states: Prepared for shipment

And this is a 2.8Ghz with a 750GB HDD.

I'll be quite happy if it ships on Fri 8.10 as originally expected. That means I should have it between Mon-Wed next week. My 4GB of RAM from OWC which I ordered on Wednesday morning after changing my order will has also shipping and is scheduled for delivery on Monday.

Other people have reported very long delivery times for the wireless keyboard. I very much hope that mine will ship as estimated. Has anyone actually had a wireless keyboard shipped?

Update Aug 15th: Apple moved the estimated shipping date forward by a week - likely the wireless keyboard causing the delay. I cancelled the order and will get a standard configuration from a local reseller today.

With TNT, it's not the China to UK route you have to worry about but from the local hub to your house. TNT have a habit of using the latest delivery date as the actual delivery date, meaning the machine sits in the hub for a week (or two.)

My guess is you'll get it on Tuesday. If FedEx flies it to Houston tomorrow, it'll be on your doorstep Tuesday.

(unless FedEx flies them into Memphis from overseas and then the rest of the shipping is by truck. If that's the case, then you're right. Wednesday or even Thursday!!)

I got mine! It was delivered this morning at 8:15am even though the estimated delivery was for Tuesday...so you will probably get yours soon!!

It will just sit here and taunt me all day long. I can't even set it up when I get home until after I finish my sanding and staining project in the garage and then clean my desk.

I'm just hoping for no dead pixel/other screen issue i.e. yellowing or condensation, etc/or loud fan/odd humming/abnormally hot sort of issues. Funny you read about so many of those but there must be 100s or 1000s of those that have no issues. I just don't want to deal with having to send it in for repair or replacement. I have no worries about the gloss but I have a dark office with a shade that is always down. Only the halogen track lights could be an issue but I doubt it.

Just phoned up TNT, and the reason for the Potential Connection Delay is due to the plane being loaded up after they could be signed off, and therefore had to be offloaded.

Doesn't make any sense to me either, but TNT said it should be delayed by only 1 day and should be arriving around the 17th where I am in the UK (Leeds).

Oh well. Just noticed that it's already prepared for shipment. I guess I can always return it once it gets here. I'll be able to get some 2.8 benchmarks before then.

I usually skip CPU upgrades by practice since it's always too little for too much. But I later realised that this one might actually be worth the money.
I don't think it will do much for my graphics work, ram is more important there. But for the music production it can results in quite a few extra plugins.

Let's see how the benchmarks turn out.

I live in canada and ive ordered the iMac since last tuesday. and well thursday the 9th they shipped it and by saturday the 11th at 6hpm they said it has departed from their fedex location in Memphis TN. and well its been that way since. they havent updated the site and it was expected to arrive the 14th before 6hpm. Im just wondering if the fedex site just forgot to update the tracking or does it really take 2 days to ship from memphis to montreal...help please :( im getting worried.

What does "flight booked" mean in terms of time?

Looking at some examples from other users on that site, it would seem to suggest that the flight was on the 13th and it should arrive at the TNT hub on the 14th. But obviously that could be any time on the 14th.

My 24" iMac status is exactly the same as yours. The ETA is also the 17th August which is this Friday, but I think that's a bit optimistic tbh.

Well, it shipped, from Shanghai on August 11 (a Saturday). At that time I was told to expect it tomorrow. It arrived this morning 9:15 Eastern Time via FedEx Express. I am more than pleased.

Yeah, to the actual computer, those are the only upgrades I did. And I figured that Apple should have a mountain of MightyMouses somewhere since they've been out for so long. And the troubling thing is, that after almost a week now it still ISN'T "Prepared for Delivery". I'm just stuck at "Not shipped yet." still, and from what I understand "Prepared for Delivery" comes after "Not shipped yet." I'm just hoping for it on the weekend now.

Annoying as it is to wait for a new product that you bothered to order immediately it came out ... I'm not sure compromising on your desired spec is a great idea just to save a few days.

Its not likely that you will look back in a few months and think if only i had it 3 days earlier but you might look back and think if only i had waited for the spec I really wanted.

Man, these screen issues that people are having are making me paranoid. I hope mine doesn't have any issues once it gets here. It's now saying that it's in Anchorage, AK. I was under the impression that when I ordered the overnight shipping that I would get it in one day. Oh well, though. I had dead/stuck pixels. I think they were stuck, red ones and white "hot" too. I couldn't unstick them with any of the tools. I also had odd backlight bleeding along the bottom of the screen for about 6 inches coming in from the corner. You could only see it on a black screen but I knew if I had a DVD playing or I was previewing an iMovie or FCE project full screen that anything with letterbox bars would like like a spotlight was coming out of the corner. I probably would have let the backlighting go if it didn't have the dead/stuck pixels too. That was the one thing I was worried about. Something else was weird that when I turned the brightness down it didn't get much darker. On a Powerbook it will go to black at the lowest setting. Don't know if it should do that on an iMac or not, but it didn't even get close. If anything it should get somewhat darker than it was and then at the lowest setting go dark. But I've never owned an iMac before.

Has the shipping time been improving on the imacs? I had to send my imac back because of a stuck disk and a confluence of problems, in that the imac would not boot. Now I am told it is about a 5 day wait, although they bumped my shipping to the faster version. I start school in two weeks and I need to get set up and ready for the onslaught of papers:(

Annoying as it is to wait for a new product that you bothered to order immediately it came out ... I'm not sure compromising on your desired spec is a great idea just to save a few days.

Its not likely that you will look back in a few months and think if only i had it 3 days earlier but you might look back and think if only i had waited for the spec I really wanted.

Put your reference number in at this site Clicky (http://www.apecode.com/appletrack/). That will give you an idea firstly of where its coming from and also give you detailed shipping info until it passes in to the hands of your local delivery agent.

This is not looking good another day in China has slipped by and still no movement. I would have expected their to be another shipment to the UK by now that TNT could have used.

In the vast majority of cases, ETA means the date it reaches TNT's European Distribution Centre (EDC). Then expect to wait a further 1-3 days.

1. while I know it can get here sooner than those estimates, Apple is not able to tell me when they expect it ship.

2. Apple is also not able to tell me if the order is given priority (they have no idea) b/c it is a replacement or if I am now behind all orders since last Wed that have not shipped yet, i.e. the current ship time has gone from 3-5 days to 5-7 days.

3. I understand they are doing their best to resolve it, but from my point of view my CC has been charged for my original order when it shipped. All orders since then that haven't shipped may ship ahead of my replacement and won't by charged till that time. But Apple already has my $$.

So I may end up waiting longer for my replacement than I did for my original order, all b/c of bad luck of getting a problem machine.

Should I just shut up and wait or am I at least a little bit right in being bummed about this?

FYI, I have been very nice to Apple throughout this, I am NOT one of those people who is abusive to Customer Service Reps.

Hey at least you got your shipment pretty quick the first time... after that it's just bad luck due to getting a faulty one...

My iMac and those of several other people here are still stuck in a shipment which has been at Pudong International Airport since the 12th of August. No update whatsoever as to what the problem is. I also ordered on the 8th of August btw, original delivery date 21st August, which was pushed up to 16th of August. Obviously it's not going to get here on the 16th anymore, although Apple's tracking still says the 16th.

What really gets to me is that people who ordered after the 8th of August may actually get their iMacs before I do... geez...

Join the club. That means its sitting waiting for a plane to Europe. The 17th should be the ETA to you, but its more likely to be the date its expected at their hub in Arnhem.

I think I might have mine by the end of next week and that's being optimistic now as its been waiting for a plane for 3 days now.

Fedex picked the package up at 12 AM GMT-5 yesterday (tuesday) from Shanghai and they just let it sit in a warehouse until 3:15AM GMT-5 today (wednesday), left Shanghai and now is in some town somewhere in South Korea 5:30 AM GMT-5. Honestly that is some bs.

It's now 22:31 PM or 10:31 GMT-5 (wednesday) and Fedex still did not update their website :mad: Now I remember why I hate Fedex, bunch of lazy people there.

Trying to do business with them here in Canada. Only way they pick up a shipment if its International or wtv. If its a ground shipment, you have too bring it to them.

Apple use DHL or UPS next time.

Okay, now I see. That means your consignment is being shipped by Kuehne + Nagel (you are able to track via apecode?), hence you don't have a valid TNT consignment number by now. Did you order anything else then an iMac?

Sorry, yes, its with Kuehne + Nagel just now so I'm using apecode. I also ordered Applecare, but its being shipped in the same consignment this time. Last time, the Applecare pack arrived within a few days.

Strange. That means ordering a simple protection plan, causes the whole consignment first to be merged in the Netherlands, before being delivered to its receiver. Is it just me, seeing some sort of overhead there? ;)
