For the people that have bought one, how is it? Is the glare bad, not a issue, etc? Are you next to a window, or is it by a lamp, etc? Can you take a photo to share with us?

And do you think :apple: will offer a matte screen in the near future?

I don't have a new iMac yet, but on my MacBook the screen is just fine for me. I usually sit with the screen facing the window and do plenty of work with my photography on it. I've noticed that the glare is more subtle that those on PCs.

How is it in direct or partial sunlight?

The glossy screen on the iMac is quite a bit more glossy than those on the MacBooks / Pros (at least what I have seen from pictures)

C'mon Apple - bring back the non-glossy screens at least as a BTO option! If, as Jobs says, Pro users really do consider the new iMacs to be more like Pro machines, why spite graphics and video pros with glossy screens? This is a serious sticking point and has stopped me buying one... if it's even worse than the Macbook then it must be pretty bad! I saw a guy trying to use his Macbook on Brighton beach in full sun the other day and the screen was doing just fine - as a huge pocket mirror!:(

A glossy/matte option seems a little more complicated for iMacs. The iMac's glass covers the bezel, too... it's not just a glossy coating on the panel.

I don't think it'll happen.

Why don't you just wait to see one in real life rather than keep talking trash about the new iMac. At least wait until you have real life experience with it, rather than made up nonsense.

I don't think he minds glossy--he owns a Macbook. :) Calm down!
