"Bidder 1" on ebay always jacking up prices...?

everything i've bought on ebay the past couple months have had these "Bidder 1/2/#" jackasses hitting up the price of everything a solid 10%. who are these clowns? is this some new ebay scam? someone that jacks up bids in return for a commission?
 
Some auctions (I'm not sure, but I think it's when it gets over $200) have anonymous bidding. The names of the actual bidders are replaced by aliases: bidder1, bidder2, etc. until the auction is over. Then you can see their real user names. I've also seen partially hidden names.
 
have you tried to click on their name?

usually it brings you to their feedback page.

in this case, it would bring you to a page explaining your misplaced paranoia.
