Can someone please give me a guide of how to get a fully featured (la)tex installation working on mac os x. This is, and editor compiler, automatic package installation. I have tried to install something called gwtex, but I can't seem to get it working. So I would really appriciate if I could get some help.

Thank you.

When mounting the .dmg, I get the error seen in the image which I uploaded.

Does anyone know why this happens?

Edit:
Apparantely I can't upload .tiff files. So I will just convert it.

Alright, here it is:

It appears that you have accidentally associated .dmg disk image files with QuickTime. Associate them with either Disk Utilities or DiskImageMounter instead.

Nope, that doesn't seem to be the case. Because, I can mount other .dmg files just fine.

Btw, I tried re-downloading the file, still same problem.

I just downloaded the 722 MB MacTeX.dmg disk image file with no problems. I have two recommendations:

1. Open the .dmg file in Disk Utilities and try to repair it.

2. Restart your Mac in Single-User Mode:
a. Restart.
b. While starting up, press the "S" key.
c. At the command prompt, type fsck -fy. This runs file system check.
d. When you get back the command prompt, type exit or logout.
