Spinny ball woes

Quite often now, if I leave my mbp for a little while and later return, it does the little spinny ball and just keeps on doing it and hangs completey. It's gotten to a point where it is getting on my nerves, rather.

Usually whenever this happens the only applications which I have running will be, adium, mail, safari and smcfancontrol.

Has anyone else had this? Or could maybe offer me some advise.

try repairing permission in disk utility, or, see if maybe theres something else running in utility manager that has a lot of real memory used up

Presumably you meant Activity Monitor.

hmm thanks for that.
I don't really want to speak too soon, but it may have fixed the problem by repairing the permissions :)
