Can I use Tiger install discs that came with new computer on old one?

I just got a powermac running mac os x 10.39 and I want to update it to 10.4. Can I use the install discs that came with my new macbook to update it or does Apple protect against this?

Aside from licensing issues, the disks that came with the MacBook are Intel only. You will need a retail copy of 10.4 (Tiger) for the PowerMac PPC.
