so i got my mbp first mac before like a couple of weeks..and i made my 23years brother who is a REAL mac hater to buy a 2000$ mabook pro XD..
he saw me using it many times and he dare that it will have a ''grey screen of death'' in 2 days or i will just return it to the apple store.. but nothing of that happenes..so he got a mbp..and guess what..he gave his hp laptop to his friend!! really! :D so i feel proud now haha..

i dont go out of my way to tell people to get one as i simply do not care what they do with their money. i get macs because i like them pure and simple.
so with that i have no idea how many people i may or may not have influenced to get a mac. be cool if i did though without me trying lol

I don't actively advocate that people switch, but I have had exactly three people in my circle buy a Mac after seeing mine in action. I also think number four is pending. He is completely in love with the new iMac and has been "hanging out" at the Apple Store. :D
UPDATE: Number four is a done deal. He just bought a new 20" iMac. I also sold one to my brother last night, so put me down for five total.

As with the others, I don't try to "sell" the mac. I just use it. If they like it when they see me use it, they buy it. I can count about 10 people who have switched to macs after seeing mine in the last 4 years since I switched.

I influenced one (even though I don't even have a Mac, used one for couple years...).
I just told him my legendary encounter w/ the garbage pile named Vista and his mom decided they are probably going to switch lol...
Now my other friends think Macs do have better features and is more stable...

I got my mom to want an iMac, so my stepdad could buy it for her on her birthday. I also think I got this one lady who sat next to me on the plane back from Florida to get one. She said she wanted to replace her Windows 98 computer  so I just showed her the cool stuff about it and she said she was probably gonna get one. I might have also inadvertently convinced some other people too.

3 people so far, including my mom who got the new iMac this weekend and loves it.
I just tell people, I don't know how to fix viruses or want to know how to get rid of a Trojan Horse, so I have a mac.

At least one, the guy who bought my 15" CD MBP. It was his first Mac. I do know that I have got many people interested in Macs, but don't know if they have or will buy Macs.
On an interesting note, to me anyway, in an office completely full of Windows PCs, the president of our company has a PB :D He likes how stable Macs are.

I was just thinking about this the other day – it's quite a few; My brother, my Mother, my girlfriend, my girlfriends Mother. These have all been direct converts, as in they asked me what computer to get next and I said "a Mac". In my social group of about 20 people, about half now have macs, but some were using them through work before I had any influence on there decision.
I tend to recommend macs to family mainly because if their machine has a problem I'm the one who has to fix it. If it was a windows box it would be that much more headache.

I switched in Jan. 2005, bought a 15" PB G4. I then got my sister to switch, she bought a 12" PB G4 (She still has it, loves the size). A good friend was next with the 15" PB G4 that used PC4200 ram (I guess the last of the PB's), and he still has it and uses it. I then got another friend into the Apple world, he bought a 1st gen 17" MBP. Another friend followed with 1st gen 13.3" MB (white). Another friend got switched with a 1st gen 13.3" MB (black). And finally, my cousin switched after a year of thinking about it, and bought the new 15" MBP w/ LED display.
All of them love OS X the most, that was all of there reasons to switch, nothing more really.
So in short, I switched 6 people. I know I have a few more people that will switch, they just need to come up with the money to do it.

Well my sister convinced me back in 2001, and also I had a friend who was a mac owner since the 90s but I bought my first mac ibook in 2003 after that 2 other friends came on the boat. This year alone 3 of friends bough macbooks and yesterday a friend of mine called me up ofr blessings that he bought a PPC mac mini

100% because of me:
Dad, Brother, Sister, Uncle, Grandad, Grandad's friend, Friend's brother (Mum is saving for an iMac and a friend is saving for a Macbook)
Partly because of me:
I use a Macbook in school, one of two computer users in my class. Almost everyone said I was crazy for using a mac, now all the people who sit around me have one or want one.

I offered to replace it when I can with a P4 Dell lappy, but she declined, saying she'll keep her little friend until he finally gives up the ghost. (The iBooks starting to get those crappy logic board issues.)

Maybe 1 other, but his Dad bought it for him. I didn't really do much, but I had him sold on the idea of wishing he could buy one.
I've convinced a couple of others that they want one :D

I've never gotten anyone to switch that I know of yet... which saddens me XD A friend of mine really wanted a Mac but for some reason decided to get a Dell instead. I think it's because she's bad at saving money and had no credit.
3 months later, her computer was overidden with viruses. She paid over $200 to get it fixed.
She now regrets her decision fully :D So I'm pretty sure that's one switcher for the future, at least.
I'm also positive my mother's next computer will be a Mac after all she's gone through, and I'm trying to get my father and brother to switch too, also the virus problem XD I'm suggesting a Mac Mini for them.

But I'm not an evangelist. I don't go around telling people what to buy, and that their PCs suck. It has to be their choice.

Probably hundreds
I work in a computer superstore (UK's PC World) and am the stores 'Apple Guy' so i do all the selling for everything Apple.
Outside of work though i've convinced only 2 people that i know of, My Ex used a toshiba laptop until i bought my new MBP and handed her down my old 12" iBook G4, and my younger brother has just gone out and bought a new iMac.
A few people from previous employments have also switched to Macs, but although i did talk to them alot about them, they switched after i left so can't really take credit for them.

Not a single person has switched platforms because of anything I have told them.
For one thing, I don't go around advocating that users give up what they know and like. I am not paid to sell Macs and I refuse to advertise them for free. However, it is true that on occasion I tell friends and co-workers about the Mac and how I like OS X since it is UNIX based.
This doesn't make any difference to them because on the average Macs cost more than PCs. When I tell someone that my 24" iMac cost over $2,500 they immediately inform me that a Mac is unaffordable for them. They want what I have, not something less. I can't imagine how they would react if I told them to get a fully loaded Mac Pro.

This past weekend I had a friend head to an Apple Store to buy a Macbook for his wife. They left with a Macbook, a 20" iMac, and two iPods with the education deal.
Another friend ordered a Macbook for her daughter.
Maybe two or three others before this.

Anytime someone tells me they have a problem I subtly tell them I have a Mac and never have those kinds of issues. But so far I havent gotten anyone to actually buy one. My oldest sister was very interested and had me show her how to do a few things, but thats about as close as Ive come.

I have convinced one person so far: my brother.
I usually don't try to convince people (unless family members or really close friends) because I don't want Mac users to come across like missionaries. Not long ago when I was still a hardcore XP user I hated Mac users who were so obsessed by Apple they felt they had to convince everybody.
I just wait till people approach me and start asking questions;)
