Icon next to trash in dock, how?

Hi folks!

I'm trying to get an icon next to the trashbin on the dock, but I can't get it there. I either put it in the trash, or it flips back to the left side of that little spacer between the trash icon and the other icons.

Does anyone know how to place an icon there? Thanks!

I think only icons for certain types of file can go on the right.
You can have Hard Drives and documents, but Apps have to go on the left.

Shortcuts to Apps on the left hand side of the divide, shortcuts to files and folders on the right hand side of the divide (next to the trash)
