I have a 17" g4 PB 1.67" with the ATI Mobility Radeon 9700.
No matter what display I plug into it, they all show up as "VGA Display" and not the name of what the actual display is (Dell 2005FPW in this case).
I know that it shouldn't be this way, because I have plugged them into my friends MacBook pro, and also use the same monitor at home and it is recognized correctly. Does this sound like a driver issue, or maybe just the video card is malfunctioning? I am able to connect the external display and get a picture, but the correct resolution is not being displayed.
I have tried switchRez X, but feel that it should work correctly without having to resolve to third party programs.
