Canon SD850 software

I just purchased a new Canon SD850 and MacBook Pro. New to both the camera and Mac. Do I need to load the software that came with the camera to upload pictures or should I just let IPhoto handle the uploading? Also, is there any reason, besides uploading pictures, why I would want the software that came with the camera?

If you're happy with iPhoto, then just use that. No reason to use the software that comes with the camera when you already have a perfectly good program.

Canon bundles a pretty good photo stitching program, not sure if iPhoto has same feature.
