Research in Motion lost the lawsuit brought against it by NTP.
The legal battle between RIM and NTP began in November 2001 when a group of Illinois-based inventors said in a statement of claim that RIM's BlackBerry infringed on eight patents controlled by NTP. The patents cover the use of radio frequency wireless communications in electronic mail systems.
