View Full Version : Texted the Wrong Person Yet?

The Iphone makes it pretty easy to text the wrong person when responding to a text. Sometimes when you get a text, and 'slide to view,' it will pull up the text to respond to. Other times, it'll go to the text convo that was last up. I just did this this morning - texted someoene that was on vacation when I meant to text someone else in response lol

I'll say. Was kind of embarassed when I thought I was texting my girlfriend and texted Mom instead. Who knew Mom was into kinky stuff like that?

I texted a guy I play rugby with instead of my gf. Needless to say, he was confused with what I was proposing to him.

yeah that happened to me once and it involved sending a message to an ex that they really should not have seen... oh well. if anything, it's taught me to be more careful.

Lol, I have had this same issue. What I do now is go back to the messages screen after texting. Then, when you click on the new text alert, it will take you to the text that you just received.
My buddy did the same to me and dropped the "I love you" bomb. (He thought he was texting his wife) We are co-workers and I looked over and said, "You love me?!", it was hilarious. :p

yeah, totally sucks when your lifting partner gets an extreamly explicit text from the other guy... me.
best part was, I kept sending him dirty texts, because i thought it was funny.
I wonder why we don't lift together anymore?
hmm.

I'll never understand why people text, when they can pick up the phone and talk to someone... so I don't think i'll ever run into this problem.

I don't think this is an iPhone problem. Couple of weeks ago, I got a text message from my sis-in-law (in Ireland) asking me "how are the boobs?" She meant to text a friend who just had a baby.

If you don't feel like talking to the person and start a on going conversation
If you're in college / high school
If you want someone to read it without ignoring you.
If you want a longer phone bill. :D

Just embarrassingly did this the other day. Funny to see a topic started at the same time. Now I'm very careful.

Sometimes you just need a short answer to a question and actually calling someone would take up too much time.
Sometimes you are in a place where you wouldn't be able to hear the person (like a bar/club).
Also, texting makes it possible to talk to multiple people at the same time. (Though you run the risk of texting a message to the wrong person. ;) )
Having said that, I rarely text anyone. I'd be surprised if I use 200 text messages in a year. And I've never sent a message to the wrong person.

I've never sent a message to the wrong person, but that's probably largely because at least 99% of all messages I've ever sent have only been to a single person.
On the other hand, I've gotten a wrong message before. It said, "Hey baby, you can come over now. She's gone." I have absolutely no idea who sent it, but I was very tempted to send a reply advising the sender to double-check the number before sending a message about cheating on your significant other.

Are you kidding, it's like the ultimate detached way of dirty talk. I can pimp 10 girls at once from my palm!

Well, I imagine it's the same reason people email. I do (text and email) because the person can open my message at their leisure. Don't have to worry about busy signals or no one available. Plus I like getting email or text replies as opposed to a call back because I like having the physical message to refer to. If they leave information on voice mail I have to find a pen and play it back several times. Texting and emailing are convenient and don't demand anyone's immediate attention. But in the end . . . different strokes for different folks :p

Sometimes when people are playing with my iphone I'll forget about the conversation I was just having with my gf when they hit the sms button or if a message pops up... yeah you all know it's happened to you too
