New HD - NEED HELP GETTING OS X ON IT!

Okay, my new Seagate 7200.1 HD is in my PowerBook G4 1.67GHz but when I insert the Tiger Install DVD (I got the PB with Panther on it originally) there is no "destination volume" when it says: "Select a destination volume to install Mac OS X software". Do I need to format the HD? How do I do this. I need your help!

I've found the Disk Utility. Do I need to partition it? It's a G4...not Intel. Or do I still need to partition it all to Mac?

Plz help.
