View Full Version : Poll: Do you own an iPhone?

Nope. Had a 4GB first-generation model on launch day, and sold it last summer. I was sick of having a crap camera with no decent video capture, no multitasking, no swappable battery, inflexible UI, etc. Only good thing that came out of it is that I kept the SIM/plan from the original iPhone, so I still get unlimited data+200 texts/month for 20 bucks a month on top of a family plan shared voice deal.
Much happier now with my Nokia E90.

I dont have iphone at present, but I am planning to have it in the
near future. Many upgradation are going on it as it has faced some
of the drawbacks from its clients, so I will go for the upgraded one.

no, and I never will. I'm cheap when it comes to cell service. I'm not into texting, and surfing the web on a small screen sucks big time. (I have an iTouch, so I know)

Before the iPhone, I would get bored of my phones after a month or so...now, I couldn't imagine owning another phone. For what I need, or you may say, want, iPhone does it all. And oh so well, and beautifully.

Nope, probably never will, I never needed a cellphone as it costs too much, and I don't need an iPod for that matter, I would just never use it.

Jan 4, 2010, 04:49 PM
No, I do not own one and probably never will. Sure, I wouldn't mind one but I refuse to pay a ridiculous amount of money every month just for a cell phone and I quite dislike contracts. I plan on getting an iPod touch eventually anyway and that can do almost everything the iPhone can, phone aside of course - I don't mind just having a basic phone for talk and text.

Die-hard WiMo since '99. Converted in late '07 & Never looking back. 2G-8gb, 3g-16gb (white); 3gs-32gb (white). They just move down the line My wife has the 3g and my mother-in-law has the 2g. I'll probably keep the 3gs when I get the next one. Hoping for 64-gb.
It is the most competent mobile phone/device on the market. Period.

I would own one, but I can't stand Cingular/AT&T. Their service is atrocious in my area, both customer service wise and coverage wise.
I will never understand why Apple signed an exclusive contract with them. Were they trying to create more competition from other smartphones on other networks?

I got one on the company hook for an employee. I would go for it too, if I could get T-Mobile or Verison.
(I'm feed up with AT&T = The do not call list, operated by AT&T, is really a democrat party phone tree, their rates are variable and change without my approval ... more ... :( )

Quite simply no, i would have had one if they came out on vodafone about 6 months earlier, my contract ran out and i upgraded to the latest blackberry curve, not a bad phone, i have an iPod touch so i saw no real need for one just yet, ill be getting one when i need to renew my contract in about 18 months time, hopefully the generation over the next one will be out then, but ill probably purchase whatever iPhone is on the market at that time

3Gs -32gig - white and the white Otterbox protective case. Love it.
Had to get a new phone a year and a half back decide to try an iPhone. Switched from a Blackberry. Generally happy. Battery life is below average. AT&T is ok. I hate all of the carriers, so I have very low expectations.

Feb 7, 2010, 03:20 PM
Yep. I was an early adopter. I bought the original 4GB, upgraded to the 8GB, bought the first 16GB White 3G, upgraded that to the 3GS, then returned the 3GS and am currently running the 16GB 3G.
I returned the 3GS because I never used Voice, the improved camera wasn't worth the extra money, and I'm awaiting the new iPhone 4G due out in June-July. It should have a better camera, and a modified Apple chip like the iPad (which I'm on the list to buy).

Apple usually comes out with new iPhones in the middle of the year. Usually in the June/July timeframe. The 3Gs has been out for nine months now.

I've got an 8GB iPhone 3G that I bought on PAYG in September 2009.
As others have said, it's worrying and somewhat frightening how reliant you become on the iPhone. Like others, I cannot imagine life without it simply because it does so much. Whether I want to do basic phone tasks, write the shopping list, work out how much currency I'll get for my holidays, watch the latest episode of 24 or Chuck, listen to some Metallica, or even play a game of Street Fighter IV ... the iPhone does it all.
Thank you Apple. :D

I think I want one, but I just don't use my cellphone very much. The rest of the features would be cool to have, for even with a 4GB refurb and the extra data plan, that'd $700 for the next year. I have a hard time justifying that.
They still sell the 4GB models on the refurb store? An iPhone is great, but if you can't justify it for yourself then theres no point in getting one.

I have an iPhone 3G. Had it since its release in July of 2008, and have relished every second I had it since then. Even to this day, my iPhone 3G still amazes me, specifically when new Apps are introduced. My 2yr contract with AT&T will be up this July, and safe to say, I will replace my 3G with the new 4G/HD, regardless of any shortcomings this new phone may have. The unrivaled, super friendly, responsive UI alone is enough for me to stay with Apple in these smartphone wars.

I have a 3G, 8Gb since mid 2009. Very happy with the device, yet it will be my last iPhone ever if 2 things don't change:
a) when I pay the full price for the machine, I want it to be available to me unlocked (currently not so in India)
b) the Apple app store and the censorship applied to what's on sale. I'm referring to Steve J's 'if you want to buy porn, get an android phone' jibe. Well, I'm not interested in buying porno apps but I detest being told what I can and cannot buy.
Realistically speaking, my phones tend to last 2 years and much though I love the iPhone, I think the next device will likely be HTC's HD2 successor. At least that one I can get with no strings attached.

Nope. I'm pretty happy with my other brand of smart phone, though I do like the iPhones. Maybe some day when I need a new phone, and iphones are available with a more preferable carrier.

nope. as shiny as i think it is, as useful it can be (esp considering the limitations of my current lame phone), i still can't justify the monthly price of the data plan. i'm just a poor college student. at this point, my phone is only for phone calls.

I have a white iPhone 3G[S] 16GB. Unlocked and Jailbroken, being used with T-Mobile ($50 a month for unlimited minutes/text/web)
Love it. I've owned every model (2G,3G and 3G[S]) and I doubt I'll jump to a different phone anytime soon. Once the iPhone 4G drops, I'm jumping to AT&T to get it (because of the MicroSIM)

No. It's definitely one cool phone, though.

Nope, not yet. I'm waiting for Apple to be available outside of AT&T.
