How long do our past mistakes remain in the MR data base? Out here in California, our driving record is wiped clean after 3 consecutive years of no violations; I was kind of hoping for something like that here at MacRumors.

Well, BV did ban me for 30 days for posting an image of a refrigerator magnet that was for sale on eBay.
I can't really speak for the administrators but I'd have guessed your slate would be swept clean after serving your time.
Well, did they resemble body parts or something?I would post an example, but then I'd get banned for that.
Anyway, if MR bought their own parcel of land in Second Life you could have been put in the stocks and we could have thrown things at you.
I'm sure things'll be a lot more lenient here. Probation for the rest of your life, maybe.

This is a valid question, since moderator actions tend to be harsher after multiple infractions, with mere warnings more likely for first offenses.
With a bit of research, we can sometimes dig up "dirt" about a member's past infractions. However, if somebody had trouble following the rules years ago, it's likely that it won't have much effect on moderator actions now.
Example:
In other words, time gradually erases old problems, but there's no rule that says they go away completely. I think it's a fair system.
