G4 and Altec Lansing

I just got my new G4 and am wondering if my old Altec Lansing speakers/subwoofer will work with it? Do I have to use Apple speakers in the Apple speaker jack as the manual suggests? What about through the headphone jack? I haven't yet looked at the speakers (they are not at my house), so I was just wondering if anyone had an answer to my dumb question.

i visited UCSC and it was too partyishy for me....the tour guides didnt even mention anything academic about the school....but damn weather was great :D :D

(and that's from somebody who lives in Marin :D)
