Where to buy Hard drives and Enclosures in The UK

Hi there, i had a look in the forums about this but all the advice about where to buy is for the US.

I'm looking to buy an iMac soon, and i'm going to buy a separate 500gb hard drive, then replace the 320gb one it comes with. How much does this cost because i know that if i do it it'll void the warranty. Then i'd put the 320gb one in an external hard drive enclosure, Where can i get a decent enclosure (preferably with firewire 800) in the UK. Also where can i buy a decently priced 500gb hard drive. I had a look on misco.com and a 500gb one was about £70, i assume this is a good deal, but they had no decent enclosures there.

I can recommend www.scan.co.uk - I've used them quite regularly over the years. Also www.ebuyer.co.uk are worth a look.

If I were you, I'd upgrade the drive in the iMac when you order it. The few extra quid more than offsets the risk of trying to upgrade it yourself - taking it apart after purchase will violate your warranty, as you say.

But also, I think you'd have to be fairly confident you know what you're doing to even attempt a manual upgrade. You may just end up with a computer that doesn't work, and is out of warranty because you decided to take it apart.

why dont you just place the 500gb drive in an enclosure and leave the imac how it is and save the warranty?
 
Again I say leave the imac as you get it for the sake of the warranty, pay more to apple at build time if you have to have more internal storage, though if you plann on getting more external I can't see why.

As for plaxcces to get stuff. I'd second www.scan.co.uk as they are great. Also have a look at www.svp.co.uk they are more a blank disk supplier but I've got an external case or 2 from them in the past.
 
Any of the online stores mentioned are good, I find myself nearly always using www.scan.co.uk though. Use pricerunner or google's product search or any other product search to find the best price once you have some model numbers, don't forget to look at shipping too.
