I greatly appreciate anyone's thoughts. Does AT&T stop letting you send them? Is there a charge for each one over 200? If so, how much?

IIRC, they are billed at 10¢ each. You can also up SMS messages to 1,500 for another $10 per month.
Edit: ATT's iPhone page

depends on your plan maybe. i've got the standard 59.99 plan and it's 5 cents each after you hit 200. not bad.

i can tell you from experience that ATT will NOT cut you off when you reach your limit but will charge 10-15cents a message. if you think you're going way over, call and upgrade.

Sometimes I wish they just cut me off...
No, they let you send as many as you can, something like 5 cents per after your 200. I found it much cheaper to just get unlimited after I was over the first two months (long ago).

More money, more money, MORE MONEY!
It takes a lot of cash to keep the Death Star in orbit (not to mention pay out all those executive bonuses, etc. Vader ain't cheap!)
