Wondering if anyone has experienced this same problem and knows of a fix...

I have recorded some video footage on an ARCHOS 704 pvp in AVI format (you dont actually get a choice) 2500kbps.

The problem occurs when I try to play the video on my mac...

- Copy the File onto the Mac - OK
- Open the file in an application such as quicktime - OK
- In Quicktime, I can see the first frame of the video, I can also move the slider left to right to see other frames - OK
- Press Play - Crash! "Quicktime has quit unexpectedly" 😡

I have tried iMovie and iDVD, they both crash as well (in iMovie: crash on import, in iDVD: crash on preview).

The file plays fine in VLC! But I dont just want to play it, I would like to edit the video with iMovie.

Has anyone see this before or can anyone suggest anything?

my only workaround at the moment is to use Quicktime's 'Export' functionality to export to mp4, but this takes an age.

If it helps, I can provide a report of the info on one of the files.
