I am trying to get on a campus wide network here at work with the iPhone. We have the following networks:

WEP:
Security Type: No authentication (open)
Encryption Type: WEP
Key Index: 3

WPA2: username,pwd,network name (required)

My problem is that when i try to "manually" connect to the wep network, i get "Unable to connect to network" when using the proper key. I see no where to change the Key Index on the iPhone.... is this possible?

Second try, WPA2, I do not see where I can enter a username... only a network name and password?

Any clues on how to get on either of these networks?

Call your college IT (Internet Technology) department. They should be all knowing.

I did call them.

They said i needed a username for the WPA2 authentication (no field in the iphone for that).

and...

for the WEP, no place to set the WEP key index.

Have you tried entering the key using all capital letters?

Yes, I know, it's a pain hitting the Shift key before every letter, but I've found this tends to the solve the problem most of the time with WEP keys.

Sounds like the iPhone only supports WPA2 PSK mode.
WPA2 requires you to use a username and password that gets authenticated to an external server.

Looks like it is getting on the network now (WEP) but then kicks me off... after a few seconds. I get an IP Address and Subnet Mask but nothing else... before it kicks me.

I can re-try to connect and it says "Unable to connect" again. Sometimes it will let me back on for seconds then off again.
