Has anyone heard about this usb device that says it can recieve wireless signals up to 1000ft. Th site seems kinda sketchy. It would really help me because my neihbor said that she would share her connection with me if I shovel her driveway in the wintertime. I get 1-2 bars at most in my house. Anyone have any experience with it?

You don't need a better receiver, you need a better transmitter. Do a google search and checkout wikipedia to learn about increasing and extending wifi transmission distances.

So it won't help at all? She probably won't want to buy a new one. And im strapped for cash!

If there are any houses where you could arrange to have repeaters then you might be able to leap frog a wifi signal over to your house. There are other solutions as well. Check out wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wifi#Standard_Devices) like I told you.
