iDVD Chapter Marks

Ok, So I'm putting together my first DVD with iDVD.

I can't seem to put my own Chapter Marks in. I can only select automatic marks based on minutes?

Is this right?

'Fraid so, at least on the iDVD end. (IIRC)

You could add markers if you had FCP, of course...

That's poor!

Don't really fancy splashing out £700 on FCP though.

You can use GarageBand to add chapter markers to your movie, and then from GarageBand use Share to iDVD.

This may not exactly fix your problem, but if you are only using one movie on iDVD this should do it.

iDVD will honor chapter marks made by iMovie '06. You can also use Metadata Hootenanny to create a .mov with chapters and from what I read iDVD honors these as well.
