Hey,

I have a 2007 VW Polo with factory fitted iPod adapter. My iPod mini isn't recognised by the stereo (though it does charge). My friend's Nano works perfectly however.

I'm pretty sure the iPod is up to date...

Any ideas?

I'd hazard a guess at the cars' iPod connector being only compatible with more recent iPods. Check the car manual to see if it gives a list of supported iPods as I can't find anything on the VW site.

Or is this a third party accessory?

No, it's a VW factory one. I haven't looked at the manual, I'll have to do that. But I assume that the design can't be too radically different surely? An iPod adapter should be designed for all iPods.

Who knows?

Yeah, they pretty much are the same thing. Although, the mini did have dual support of both the FireWire and USB iPod connections so that may have something to do with it. Have you tried any other iPods other than your mini and the nano?

Haven't tried any others yet. I'll have to wait and see if somebody comes around with theirs. It's not a huge issue, but a bit disappointing.
