new external harddrive- locked

howdy Folks;

got an external hard drive - was configured on PC - mate put some files on it - I can retrieve files but cannot delete them or put anything on this external - says locked

Does reguire to be wiped clean and configured on my Mac- I am G5 iMac OS X 10.3.9

Probably because your harddrive is formatted in NTFS. You have to reformat it as FAT32 if you want to use it with both Windows and OS X.

Cheers ya for the info and directions to other posts

I think it best to have it wiped clean on the PC and start fresh on the iMac

had to be a format issue
