Helppppppp me with a G4 that won't boot

just got a g4 from my friend used only in music studio...it only gets to the point where the apple shows up on the screen...nothing after that what could it be...😕😡
 
The grey screen with the apple? Does the little loading thing show up? How long have you waited?
 
This happened to my friend, it got to the apple logo but the spinning thing did not appear. Hard drive failure was the veredict 🙁
 
Do you have the OS install disk(s) ? If so try putting it in the Mac and holding C during startup...
