i spent two nights at this hotel earlier this week, and it was such a disappointment. i wanted to post my review here to warn fellow macrumors users to not go to this hotel next time they are in the orlando area.
Royal Pacific Resort- More like Royal Pacific Ripoff
Opened in 2002, the Royal Pacific Resort is one of the newer additions to the Universal Orlando Resort properties. The Indonesian theme of the hotel is evident as one walks into the lobby, on par with a first class resort.
The grounds of the hotel are very nice, immersing you in the Indonesian like environment. Unless you are intentionally looking up or far away, you wouldn't know it's a hotel. A notable area is around the pool, which is pretty large for a hotel pool.
The rooms, at least the standard ones, are on par with the rooms you can stay at the motel 6 or any other low to mid range hotel in orlando. For 200 bucks a night, there's not much special about them. The beds are hard, the pillows aren't that fluffy, the chairs almost gave me back pain, and the bathroom isn't stunning for the room price.
Everything costs an arm and a leg around here, from the food in the pre-stocked refrigerator and cabinet to meals from one of the hotel's restaurants. I tried finding a snack on the hotel grounds for five dollars, there was nothing to be found. Want internet? That's 10 bucks a day per computer, and then you have to plug it into an ethernet plug. one liter of Fiji water? Seven bucks. One gym workout? Eight bucks. Parking? Twelve bucks a day. The ice was free though.
I don't know, but personally, I think this hotel was oriented towards families that would come straight from the airport via Universal shuttle to their hotel and spend the entire week on the Universal Orlando grounds.
But for those going to the Universal parks, there are perks. The cards that you get when you go in will give you first in line privileges on the rides, and when waiting times are long, it's definitely a postive. If you stay four nights or more, you get free passes to the park, but then again, why pay at least 800 bucks just to get a free ride at the parks?
Unless you need on the fly access to Universal theme parks, the Royal Pacific Resort is anything but. The hotel loves to part yourself with your money at every corner and will not give you alot of value at what looks to be on the outside a very nice hotel.
pros: quick access to universal and perks from universal theme parks, beautiful grounds
cons: everything is super expensive, not resort quality, very low value
2/5
