I have a G4 that has a CD Burner and an internal zip. Can I replace the zip with a dvd rom like this:

DVD ROm

it is for a G4 733.

you can but it will require some major modifcations. You have to cut lots of metal and make a mounitng bracket. you have to cut the front to allow the the tray to eject, all kinds of fun stuff. I found an article about it once. I;ll try to find it, but you cannot put a second optical in a quicksilver without lots of works.

I can do it. But the question is why really?
Get an external DVD-RAM or something.
You do this thing with taking plastic apart and your nice looking QS G4 will look like crap. Especially with the DVD-rom you chose.

Why? Becaause programs like FCP 4 now come on DVDs. And I found a DVD-rom for $29.

I should specify that the G4 is a PowerMac (Digial Audio).

I got it from a company I used to work for and am trying to update it for a friend that wants to do a little editing.
