a close friend has a 20' iMac g5. the Computer now shuts downs sporadically and she says it gets a lot hotter

any idea what's wrong?

3rd option is: memory might be corrupt.

Had the same problem. Replaced the PSU and logic board, all worked out fine. Just the memory was causing all the problems.

I have a iMac G5 and experienced this as well. It was my power supply. I had it replaced.
