I know that Apple doesn't use PCI-Express in the new G5 systems, but according to a Wikipedia Article PCI-Express (http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI-Express) is actually 3GIO. Now am I wrong when I recall hearing that Apple was working with the 3GIO group? Because the Intel Developer's site (Here) (http://www.intel.com/technology/pciexpress/devnet/) touts PCI-Express as 3GIO (Third Generation Input/Output). Just click on the "What is PCI-Express" link to find the pdf. Who's right, or is Apple's 3GIO been forwarded to 4GIO?
