Yeah, so a half dozen tracks off her upcoming release were leaked yesterday (sheer amount and locations of the leaks suggest it was planned IMO, probably by the record company) Just wondering what everyone thinks of them?
I am as far from they come from a Britney fan, and pop music in general (big time indie guy actually), but I think the new songs will go over really well with mainstream America, especially Gimme More and Been a While. I can see them turn into huge club hits, as well as a few techno/trance remixes as well.

Britney Spears is everything that is wrong with America at the moment. Her music is uninspired drivel and she's nuttier than a fruitcake. No thanks. Amy Winehouse, while insane, at least has talent. I'd take her crappiest over Britney's best any day.

Its such a pity that everyone is so into Britney and alike while so much talent slips past the public in the form of non-manufactured bands nowadays. To give an example, a new fave of mine, Little Man Tate, will never be as successful as the talentless McFly purely because the members aren't as pretty...

See I've always thought that creativity and being stark raving bonkers has gone hand in hand, but it doesn't seem to be the case with music. Cept where Bowie and Lennon are concerned.
Strange thing is I like Britneys first album. It just reeks of my teenage years when it was the only thing MTV and the radio played. I'm a fan of nostalgia so she's on my iPod :o

It's ultra-produced music finely tuned to the club scene and the culture of the day, with lyrics written exactly in the style that is selling. Then they just get britney to sing them and they are "her" songs.
Any of the pop-princesses could be the face they attach to the manufactured music. I doubt she even HEARD any of the tracks before they wheeled her out of rehab to sing in the studio.

Why was this even mentioned. Now I want to kill myself in the most gruesome way possible. :o

Wow, lot of animosity...which is understandable. As I said, I'm not a fan at all, just said that it will go over well on the radio airwaves (which I don't even listen to, by the way, b/c no decent music is played, except the local MPR radio station which has littleheard indie stuff)...
I agree with you guys, just relax a little

I'm surprised people would even pirate her music, let alone purchase it now.
But I also know that there's no accounting for taste, and plenty of people will be excited about this... unfortunately.

I thought that she went completely mad. Or was it a PR campaign?

Apparently she'll be opening the MTV VMA's this year. She's dieting by eating nothing more than these special cactus lollipops to slim down in time.
So yeah, that'll be interesting.

I've heard (and I hate to phrase things that way, but I digress...) that she was paid $250,000 for this club opening here in Vegas a week ago.

Does anyone really care anymore? Once Britney grew too old for her pedo-pron music videos too excite the little boys and dirty old men, her career was pretty much over. I mean, it's not like she can sing!

As far as I'm concerned, you can almost put Christina Aguelara in this pot but for one important difference; Christina has some serious pipes.

I mean, it's not like she can sing!I don't think she is the most talented performer ever, but you don't need to be the best singer to put on a great show. I gather she can put on quite the show.
As for her music? Some of her older songs (haven't followed up on her newer stuff) is fantastically written pop music. Which is why when rock groups and other artists cover them you can't help but to like them.
There's nothing wrong with enjoying pop. And if you're (meaning "you are" or "you were") the biggest star w/ the right connections and money, you get to have superb songwriters work for you. :p

I've never been a fan of Britney Spears. I'm a fan of music, not garbage.
