Mail problems with Entourage

I'm having problems to open an attachment in Entourage (on OSX 10.2.6).
When I make a new mail in Outlook Express 6 for pc and I add a file and then I send it to my mac's email address I only see a winmail.dat file as the attachment.
On my other mac it's ok and I can see and open the attachment.
And when I try to open the winmail.dat file it starts up IM Plugin Converter. But then nothing happens anymore. :(

How can I solve this?
It's strange that it works well on my other mac...

what kind of file are you trying to send?

I'm sending an Illustrator file (.ai). But does this matter?

well, it might matter.

have u tried sending, let me say, normal files, like .html files or .jpg files? or word docs?

does that work?

if that works, then your configuration should be ok. if it doesn't then, the problem may be a bit more complicated.
