They want to focus on MSN and Hotmail technologies. Whats the diff they all suck
MSN = Ripoff
Hotmail = Spam Central
Outlook Express = Decent email client (probably the best thing in the list)

I wouldn't expect them to try and make Hotmail open only to Windows XP users using the latest version of I.E. :rolleyes:
Honestly, with the new mail program, Outlook Express has falled to the backburner. I admit I used it when the OS X Mail.app sucked ***, but now I use it all the time.

FU Microsoft....you rat bastards.
There goes more of my precious time patching my Mothers XP machine to prevent your crap. The more software you stop making the safer things will become. Good riddance you bums.

I can't help but think what good news this is on the PC side.
MS keeps shooting itself in the foot with these IE and Outlook Express announcements.
First they say they will only release new versions of IE with new Operating Systems, so new features are only added once every couple of years. Giving all other browsers (like mozilla) to be way ahead of IE.
Now with OE getting discontinued and spam still being a problem, exisiting clients will have better anti spam filters and will take OE users away.
Mozilla Mail and Eudora will benefit greatly from this. And if they are using Mozilla Mail, might as well use Mozilla Browser right?
This is great news for the rest of us, bad for MS.

May IE & OE rest in peace. Now it is on the Safari & Mail! ;)

I think this is a good idea for MS. Web mail is the future of email for sure. You can take it with you where ever you go. It works on all OSes. What is it missing? Vbscript vulnerabilities. OS crashes.
Email is a very simple text-based technology. It's damn easy stuff. Something the web can handle with ease. If you've used .Mac mail or yahoo mail you know how good web-based email can be.
If MS drops OE perhaps they'll actually improve Hotmail. That could only be a good thing.
I say let OE go. Let web mail take over. We'll be better for it.

Will this affect the future on Entourage? I hope not!
