This iMac is no longer for sale
Now that the new iMacs have been released, what is the previous 24" iMac now worth?
My thinking is:
The new iMac is faster for CPU-heavy tasks.
My iMac is faster in most GPU-heavy tasks.
The cheapest you can get a 24" from Apple is $1699+tax (with edu).
My computer has only 1 month warranty remaining.
One could add two more years warranty for $120 or so.
Original box, mouse, keyboard, disks, etc.
I am thinking of selling it for around $1600 on Craigslist or possibly eBay. Does that sound about right or am I being overly optimistic?

$1600 on Craigslist or possibly eBay
That sounds right but more so on Craigslist. I would think if you "did" have AppleCare that price would be fine as long as you list the strength of the old iMac over the new one (we know the tech stuff but some don't, or really even care).
I know the guy on my street gets more $$ when he uses Craigslist than eBay for certain items so good luck if you do sell your old "chin" lol…:p

You may be right. I see now that you can get a refurb 24"er for $1449+tax. Mind you that is withouth the 7600 or an additonal 1GB of RAM but I don't know many people who would mind or even notice the difference.

Is the HD the standard 250Gb or a bit larger?

I just bought this 24" white iMac at Fry's for $999.95 slower GPU than yours. They sold real fast at that price. Blew all the old stock out in one day.
When you get ready to sell it be sure and point out the old iMacs had the better LCD screens

I have a friend who's looking to be an older iMac at a good price. LMK if you decide to sell it.

It has a 500GB hard drive that was bought at and installed by CompUSA (an Authorized Apple Service Provider).
I am selling this machine for sure now. I have ordered my replacement machine and once that arrives, I will be selling this one. I am going to start by trying to sell it locally on Craigslist for $1500.
If anyone on these boards once to buy it for $1550 shipped, let me know.

only the older 17 and 20 inchers.
the 24 inchers have higher quality LCDs.

$1K for a 24" ... WOW. I'd have jumped at that.
no Fry's 'round these parts, though. :(

At 1K with the slower GPU I would have had to think about it. The new 20" with an external monitor starts to look very attractive then since the GPU in these is still faster than the old vanilla GPU...
