Is it plausible now that there is flash based memory in both the iPhone and the iPod Touch that as flash memory gradually expands its storage capacity, iphone/ ipod touch owners could expand their memory in the future? It seems like it could be done sort of like a RAM card in a computer, but I may be utterly wrong.

Nope. Think it's hardwired.
It would have been cool if they'd included a memory card slot, though.

I wonder if any serious modders could figure it out... I would pay a pretty penny for an 80 GB flash drive(once it exists).
