I hate to even think about selling my tough little iBook, but I have a feeling what with 9 other Macs and a few other iPods, my significant other is not going to be too thrilled about the iPod touch coming home unless something else goes.

PM me if interested.

comes with

CD R/W optical drive
640 MB RAM
20 GB HD
10.4.10
many scratches but very reliable (has never had to have a clean re-install and has never been sent in for repair).

will post pictures here (http://picasaweb.google.com/BSL4.Guy/500MHzIBook) tonight

was thinking about $300 as it is also a collector's item

I reserve the right to come to my senses at any moment and reconsider selling this baby :o

sounds like and looks like a great condtion ibook. i would say 1 thing however $300 may be a bit of a stretch for this ibook.

true, $300 may be a bit much for the hardware, but the historical significance of this particular model my be worth a bit extra for some fanboys (like me).

If it has many scratches and doesn't include the original packaging, don't expect people to be willing to pay a premium for it. :o

Also, what's the condition of the battery?

true. when it comes to "collectible" anything, condition & scarcity set the price, as well as a buyer who is willing to pay your asking price.

true, maybe I'll wait a few years.

as said, this is just a feeler and I'm really not at all in a hurry (nor do I truly want) to sell it.

Maybe I'll sell my wife's 700 MHz G3 iBook instead :D

Thanks for the input.

I'll post pics later tonight still though.

Have you fixed the reed switch / ribbon cable yet? That's a ticking time bomb with that particular model.

I have the same iBook (DVD-ROM instead of CDRW, though) and all the replacement parts on-hand, but have not had a spare few hours to take the darned thing apart and make the fix (and upgrade the optical drive and hard drive while in there). When I do fix it, I'll put it in the kitchen and use as a recipe viewing terminal or something.

no,

I was always going to wait until there was a problem and then just disconnect it and sleep it manually.
