Good for them! At least this may spur them on to make better products. Don't get me wrong I love Apple. However 99% of the time I'm using a windows based product.

They aren't really "selling" Zune's anywhere. :)

Imagine how pissed off all of the people who bought Zunes in the past two weeks became once they found out the price had suddenly dropped 50 bucks!

I heard that guy was livid! ;)

If you read the comments (http://zuneinsider.com/archive/2007/09/05/september-ignition-artists-talib-kweli.aspx) from Zune owners, even they are seriously worried...

Zune? Never seen one of them, seeing as they're still not in the UK.

Oddly enough Apple's new iPods are shipping worldwide. If I was microsoft, I wouldn't be worried, I'd just give up. :D

Isn't the same case when Apple dropped the price of iPhone? How can you missed the similarities, it was just in the news recently! Of course that doesn't count because:

You do realize that it was a sarcastic post? It was actually very funny.

I never knew there were so many Microsoft fanboys.

I'm still wondering if all of those are legit posts??

I'm still wondering if all of those are legit posts??Haha. I too was imagining some Apple fanboys were over there trying to manipulate those folks.

Seriously though, Microsoft needs to pump out some new Zunes. The interface looked quite nice and has potential. Competition is good for everyone.

IT is funny that microsoft has fanboys. They come out with a product once every 2 years and it always sucks. just my opinion though. The only good thing microsoft has is office, and i feel they managed to ruin a good thing with office 2007. Oh sorry and the XBox 360 is pretty sweet.

I can't remember the last time I had a customer in buying the Zune. Sounds like they're denying the ship is sinking. Microsoft would say this, they lie about everything else.

Windows Vista is catching on, extremely, slow.
Zune is floundering.
Xbox 360 is showing it's design flaws.

Again, would Microsoft tell you, the consumers, this news? No. In fact, they would say you're exaggerating, or lying, and give you a letter. This letter would read: Hey, you're a dumba**, we know how to make...things. You don't. Shut up and eat it, we have your money and we don't care." Just watch the beginning of the Aqua Teen Movie for my example.

The biggest thing hobbling the Zune is the DRM. If Microsoft has an unlikely epiphany on that, the larger screen combined with larger storage could pull some people over. Given Microsofts usual MO though, they'll probably further tighten up the DRM in the hopes of getting the content providers to defect rather than the users...

There's a lot of truth in your post. I was unaware of that idea, thank you.

Steve Jobs absolutely will not let lightning strike them twice. The turnabout in the 1980s will not be repeated with the Zune. It just isn't going to happen.

The best they could do is increasing the share length/time (to say 7 and 7). They can't allow flat out copying for piracy reasons (although I'm surprised it hasn't been hacked, not that most Zune users run into a lot of other Zune users...)

Microsoft would have to come up with something completely revolutionary and different to top Apple's current lineup. So far, even the most optimistic Zune fan thinks that the Zune 2 will only offer what Apple currently does. Most are talking of leaving if the Zune 2 only offers that anyway.

The trick here is the $50 price drop only effected a very very very small amount of people. The 1 or 2 people that bought a umm. what is that things name, mune, frune, oh yeah zune.
