Why does my iMac randomly ask me if i wanted to stay connected

to the internet? this must be stopable. how do i stop the imac from asking me this question?

I'm guessing that you're connecting with a dialup or other PPP connection.

Go to System Preferences->Network and choose your method of connecting. You should select the PPP tab and see a button for Options...

You'll see the following choices that are in the screenshot.

I'm dialing through my Sprint 3g data phone. ;) When I'm in the appropriate area, 1.1 Mbps download speed doesn't seem bad at all.
