My friend just called me about and hour ago. He invited me to play BF1942 with him. I accepted. "Oh, one more thing" he said. "Before you hook your computer to the internet, be sure to download the security update" It turns out there is ANOTHER windows virus out there that restarts your computer every 60 seconds. My friend has a network of PC's, and all of them caught this virus. Boy, these days the benefits of os x really stand out:D

No way man... Windows is cool. Like how when you uninstall something but it never really goes away.... You don't even have to back up your hard drive because it's all still there

Lol...better hope you have broadband and that this isn't one of those "Security Updates" that are ungodly huge, and which have little impact on day to day PC usage...

It really is annoying--just about every day since my parents got that Dell system over a month ago there have been updated I've had to install for them. If you check the Add/Remove software control panel, there is this huge list of like 100 patches that have been installed overtop XP since we've got it. If this is the most user friendly, stable, secure Windows ever, then what has Microsoft been doing for the past couple of decades?

but you cant play battlefield on the mac, which really sucks. i dont think the virus is that bad, i patched and im done. i just feel bad for the people who dont patch.

Um, how are you supposed to download an update if you're not "hooked" to the net?

Back on topic:
There are a couple reasons Windows has a lot of viruses. 1. Windows is used by 95% of people, and is targeted more. 2. Windows is used by 95% of people, so the coders don't work very hard to defend against competition.
