My new silver 3G 4GB nano arrived today and it is dang small. It's so beautiful I can't believe it. It half the size of the pictures on apple's website. Best iPod yet!

Everyone has to experience it first hand and buy one....AMAZING!

Should of...but ordered online 2 hours after it came out. Plus I live in NJ and taxes are less here. I only work in NYC. I was upset when I went into the Fifth Ave store the day after release to argue the iPhone price drop :o and they had them...I then had to wait for mine to come in.

True...the touch will be sweet. Would not be able to justify that though because of my iPhone.

I wish they would do something to the back though...they are so prone to very small scratches. Kind of annoying.

If the back of it wasn't like that it wouldn't be an ipod! :p

Was anyone else disappointed by the photos of the iPod Nano that were leaked to 9to5? I was, it looked fat and stubby and kinda ugly. However, in the pirated pictures you could not appreciate how small and thin this device is. I saw one at the local Apple store this weekend. I had no intention of buying one, but.....well, I got the blue 8GB model. it is......amazing!:)

Yeah...even these pictures and all pictures I've seen posted DO NOT give it justice. You have to see this thing in person.

The 8 GB model will be a hot seller, in my humble opinion. :D I have the 8 GB model (teal blue case) and love it for its amazing portability, great sound quality, and excellent display screen. :) Now, I'm waiting for a protective for this new model soon....

I couldn't resist anymore so I just ordered the 8GB Silver model. I was between the Silver and the Black but I think the silver one is more polished.

I also have the Touch on order! I am wondering what I am gonna do with two iPods! :))

Someone please explain the term chavtastic.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chav

Chav, Charv/Charver (male) and Chavette (female) ('ch' pronounced as in chair) are mainly derogatory slang terms in the United Kingdom for a subcultural stereotype fixated on fashions derived from American Hip-hop such as imitation gold jewellery and designer clothing, combined with elements of working class British street fashion. Chavs are generally considered to have no respect for society, and to be ignorant and unintelligent. The term appeared in mainstream dictionaries in 2005.

Commercial effect

The Burberry clothing brand, which quickly became synonymous with the chav subculture, ceased production of its branded baseball cap in 2004, in an attempt to distance itself from the stereotype. It also scaled back the use of its patented checkered/tartan design to such an extent that it now only appears on the inner linings and other very low-key positions of their clothing.

The company has argued that all chavs are associated with counterfeit versions of the clothing: “They’re yesterday’s news,” stated Stacey Cartwright, the CEO of Burberry. “It was mostly counterfeit, and Britain accounts for less than 10% of our sales anyway.”

I don't really need a nano but am also tempted. I am going on the road to Asia for a few months and will have to ride tedious hours in transport. Alot of it is inconvinient for getting a laptop out and booting it up. I could use my blackbook on a plane but this could be ideal instead. Would be great to fire up my nano when I am stuck on some chicken bus somewhere.

There is just no reason I can see not to take one along with a laptop. The price is ok and it will tide me over until I get back around Christmas. At that time I will be in line for an Itouch. My only concern is if I will be able to see a screen so small.

As I don't really need it I was thinking of buying a project "red" (or whatever they call it) to justify it. I figure if i don't really need it why not use it as an excuse and do a bit of good?

They probably put it in cause they could without compromising the design or stability of the unit.

Personally, there is no way I could watch a whole movie on the nano but I loaded up some trailers and music videos just to test it and the video quality is stunning.

maybe they can put out a iPod touch mini.... with same size as nano, but full cover as screen..

resolution only matters to a certain degree, its so funny looking at SJ emphasis the "hight res of nano screen" at the show......

Any "audiophiles" comment on the sound quality of the new nano?

I have the 80gb video and the sound is loud and bassy enough with the stock headphones but I had to purchase some seinhieser's to get better bass.

Then I went out and bought the previous nano, YUK the sound was tinny as hell with the stock headphones, and others didnt make it sound any better. I took it back the next day and haggled with the store as they wouldnt take it back but I got a shuffle as I thought I had nothing to lose and needed a small ipod for the gym.

Well the shuffle's sound quality compared to the previous nano was just great! plenty of bass even on the stock headphones.
I dont NEED a new nano, but hey I am stuck in the "love anything Apple" loop ok.....
Which leads me right back to the question, if anyone has both a shuffle AND the new nano, could you please comment on the sound loudness and bass please?

ta!

Wide screen movies not really, but TV shows yes. I have watched a couple of This American Life The TV Show on it and a few video podcasts and it's great. You can read the all the text on screen fine, it really is amazing, so much nicer then the gen 1 screen.

Just pan and san the widescreen movies to full screen, looks fine.

Just picked up a refurbed 3g Nano (pink) for my wife to replace her dog-chewed, nearly lifeless, 1g shuffle. It's a great little device, and if you don't have one I'd suggest picking it up off of the Refurb Store. At $99 it seems like a steal.
